the best of ourselves
Martinique, December 16.
Charlotte and Axelle, wearing BASE, DOTA and NOUR.
It was in the middle of the afternoon.
The year was coming to an end and seemed far off already.
A new one was now approaching,
bringing along its fair share of unknown and challenges.
We shared a few thoughts on new beginnings.
Be it us facing radical change,
or,
viewing an old situation from a different perspective and finding ourselves full of enthusiasm again.
Either way, we agreed it was saying goodbye to some kind of comfort,
and leaving behind what's made its time in our lives.
We agreed it involved embracing uncertainty,
and learning how to find balance in the in-betweens.
As the sun started to go down, the air got fresher.
In the end, we knew we could only find consistency in our own behaviors.
“What is the point of life if we’re not trying to treat ourselves and each other kindly?”
Yet, “how do we remain open,
especially when we feel our goodwill is being taken advantage of?”
What remained clear to us, was that we would keep on wanting to explore the world.
Our world.
The one around us, as much as the one within.
And while we acknowledge its infinite complexity,
we’d always be in awe of its tremendous beauty.
